Eli graduated from the University of Toronto Law School in 2004, and was called to the bar in July, 2005. He articled with Benson Percival Brown, a renowned litigation firm, and practiced with the firm as an associate for 10 years, before opening his own litigation practice in 2015. From 2021 to 2023 he was a partner with Black Sutherland LLP.
While in Law School, Eli was the recipient of the Wilson Moot 2003 award for top oral advocacy.
Eli is also a graduate of the prestigious Ivey Business School, at the University of Western Ontario. He graduated with an MBA in 1986, and worked as a technology consultant for an international accounting firm.
Prior to entering Law School, Eli had a successful 15-year business career in various technological fields including cellular, GPS, and computer software. Eli's undergraduate degree is a B.Sc. in computer science from the University of Toronto.
Eli and his wife reside in midtown Toronto, when they are not visiting with his daughters or grandson.
Eli has been a member of the Mycological Society of Toronto for decades, and spends much of his spare time as a volunteer guide for budding mushroom hunters.
